If you’re over the age of 35 you might think that it’s now too late to change your mind about your career. Is it even possible to go down a different path? Well, if you’re considering this option then I have to tell you my dear: it is never too late. There’s always going to be an option to grow and evolve in your career over time. But you can also make a complete U-turn and head down another road.

Take it from me. My original career path was in broadcasting. And while I still use those journalism skills, it didn’t translate to the right career path for me long term. Never forget, my dear, you are never too old to pursue a new path to a fulfilling work life. Because, darling, it is never too late to love yourself and your life more with a little reinvention in the career department.

The key to being able to do this at any age is acknowledge that while it may not be easy, you are prepared for the challenges ahead.

Going Back to School

In some cases, a change in career is always going to require you to go back to school. There’s a lot of choices to make here and you will need to decide whether a further college education is a right choice for you. Also, be willing to get that advanced degree you’ve always thought about getting – your masters or your PhD.

Making Time

You are going to need to think about how you can make time for this new career change while still earning money in the short term. One of the ways to do this is to build up your new career while continuing along your current path. This is going to be stressful and put a lot of constraints on your life. However, if you can handle the pressure you get the benefit of not needing to worry about taking out loans. You can also make things easier by choosing a degree that you can start or even complete online.

Learning the New Job Market

It may have been a while since you needed to pursue a new job on the market. If that’s the case, you need to make sure that you know how to promote yourself online and seek out opportunities. These days this is largely to do with networking and a good place to start would be setting up a LinkedIn profile if you don’t already have one. That way you can make sure that employers can find you rather than you need to find them.

We hope you see now that it’s certainly not too late to get the ball rolling on a new career. You can always begin again and get the results that you want from doing so. It’s a big risk, but it’s one that could pay off and provide big benefits for your personal and professional life, leaving you feeling more fulfilled.

Is a career change just what you need to love life more? It’s never too late to make a change.
