It’s no secret that having kids can take a toll on your body. Between the sleepless nights, endless feedings, and laundry, it’s almost second nature to put yourself on the backburner. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Rather than look at yourself as a boring, old mom, look at this time as a reinvention. One of the most glorious things about being human is that you can reinvent yourself at any time. In fact, reinvention can be a way to boost your confidence. I mean, think about it. No matter how young or old we may be, it never hurts to feel sexy.

Here’s five ways to bring “sexy” back to yourself.

One – Dress For Success

One meaningful way to feel good in your body is to dress the part. When you look good, you feel good. But finding the time and money to update your wardrobe can be challenging as a mom. And you may feel reluctant to buy anything new if you still are holding on to some baby weight.

So here are a few tips:

    • Shop second hand stores or online consignment shops. You can find designer labels for a fraction of the cost.
    • Invest in a few key pieces that you can wear multiple ways. For example, a great pair of jeans, a black blazer, and a white button-down shirt are versatile and flattering.
    • Don’t be afraid to show some skin. If you’ve got it, flaunt it! A little cleavage or leg never hurt anyone.
    • Wear something that makes you feel good. This can be anything from super cute unlined bras to your favorite pair of shoes. When you feel good about what you’re wearing, it will show.

Dressing to make you feel good in your own body can go a long way to feeling confident. So, take some time to tend yourself even if – or maybe especially if – you are working from home.

Two – Step Up Your Make-Up Game

It is easy to feel like you are in a rut regarding your makeup after having kids. You may have been wearing the same thing for years, or you may feel like you don’t have the time or energy to put it into your appearance like you used to. Here are some easy ways to step up your makeup game without spending much time or money.

One way to instantly look more put together is to take the time to do your eyebrows. This can be as simple as using a brow pencil or powder to fill any sparse areas, or you could get your eyebrows professionally done. Either way, well-defined brows will make a big difference in your overall appearance.

Another way to step up your makeup game is to experiment with different lip colors. For example, if you usually wear a nude or clear lip gloss, try a bolder color like red or pink. You may be surprised at how much of a difference it makes.

Finally, don’t be afraid to experiment with different eye makeup. If you usually stick to neutral colors, try a smoky eye or a bright eyeshadow color. Just make sure you use waterproof eyeliner and mascara so they don’t run when you start sweating (which happens more often than you’d like after having kids).

You might not have time for regular trims or color treatments, and you may start sporting a mom bun more often than you’d like. If you’re feeling frumpy, consider booking an appointment with your hairstylist. They can help you find a style that works with your lifestyle and makes you feel like a new woman.

If you’re not ready for a significant hair change, that’s okay. Something as simple as adding beachy waves or experimenting with a new color can make a big difference. Or, you could try wearing your hair in a style outside your comfort zone. For example, if you usually wear it down, try an up do. On the other hand, if you’re used to straightening it, give your natural curls a chance.

Four – Channel Your Inner Confidence

One of the biggest things you can do to bring your sexy back is to work on your confidence. In fact, I’d tell you that they go hand and hand. When you become a mother, you quickly forget how beautiful and sexy you are. You are probably unfairly seeing yourself in a less than flattering light. Take time to appreciate your body for what it has done for you. Remember that you are still the same beautiful woman, even if your body has changed.

Five – Follow A Healthy Lifestyle

A significant reason why many women lose their sexy is that they feel like they are too busy to follow a healthy lifestyle. By eating right and exercising, you can bring your sexy back in no time.

If you’re focused on losing the baby weight, you may be under eating, so ensure your body gets enough calories. And exercise is a great way to get that inner confidence back. Because strong is certainly sexy in my book.

Feeling confident and sexy is about being comfortable in your own skin. It’s that simple.

While your body – and whole life – may change after becoming a mom, this isn’t the end of being a confident, sexy woman. In fact, it’s an opportunity ripe with the ability to become the person you always knew you could be.
