It’s normal to feel down sometimes. Or like you’re in a slump you can’t get out of. And then you get that “why bother” attitude. So what can you do when it feels like your motivation has gone missing? Because, honestly, that kind of slump can also lead to some mental health issues like stress, depression, or even anxiety.

If you’re feeling like you’re in a funk and you’re not sure how to find your motivation you’re certainly not alone. But, you also don’t have to feel that way forever. You’re stronger than you might think you are, and once you’ve learned to grow that inner strength, you can focus on finding your motivation again.

With that in mind, let’s look at a few things that can jump-start your motivation and feel more like yourself again.

One – Focus On Your Biggest Goal

There is so much uncertainty going on in the world right now. As a result, you’re probably often thinking about several different things at once, including things you want/need to accomplish on a regular basis.  That can leave you feeling overwhelmed and unmotivated, because it’s easy to get buried beneath everything.

Instead, try focusing on one goal. Make it your most important goal. If you’ve been thinking about switching careers, make your goal something like going back to school. If you want to start your own business, your goal should be something to reflect that.

By pushing your other tasks aside for a moment and putting your attention on one important goal, it can motivate you to work toward it without feeling overwhelmed by everything else.

Two – Invite Inspiration to Help Find Your Motivation

Finding inspiration is one of the most important aspects of motivation. But, it isn’t always easy to get inspired, especially when you’re overwhelmed or stressed.

So, search for inspiration wherever (and whenever) you can. The Internet makes it easier. If you have a specific goal in mind, try Googling it. You might find success stories from others that can help to fuel your fire about that particular goal, so you’re ready to move on it.

Some people get expired by listening to music. Others journal or draw. Whatever works to light a spark in your imagination is a great place to start.

Three – Allow Yourself to Ask for Help and Support

No matter what your goal is, one of the most important things to keep in mind is that you don’t have to work toward it on your own. Having a support system in your corner is a great way to get consistently fired up about what you’re doing.

Not only can a support system keep you motivated, but they can hold you accountable. If you’re not putting in the effort that’s needed to reach your goals, someone from your team can call you out on it and push you to keep going.

It’s far too easy to lose motivation, but it can sometimes feel impossible to find it. Thankfully, that isn’t the case. By keeping some of these tips in mind, you can regain inspiration and find your motivation to put your best foot forward every day.
