Though everywhere you go the world seems to be in Christmas mode, it won’t be long until a brand new year – and decade – are upon us. It’s kind of crazy, right? Yet, if you’re here with me right this minute, you’ve likely been thinking about that already. What will the new year bring? How can you make an already good – or possibly kinda sucky life – much better in 2020?

What might you desire your life to look like in the new decade?  And even if you are enjoying your life right now, you probably know that it’s possible to love your life even more.

That’s the real beauty in life. We can continue to take what we love about our life. And build upon it to make things better. What I want you to know is that even the smallest of shifts and changes can allow you to experience a life that feels more nourishing. And take a baby – or bold – step into the next phase of life. Because what better time than on the cusp of a new decade?

Here’s some ways to take action to have an even better life as we move towards 2020.

Make a Life of Better Health a Priority

To start with, the very first thing that you might want to focus on for the year ahead is your health and well-being. If you don’t feel your best (or look it), next year could be your year. Maybe you want to work on nutrition or exercise – whatever it is that makes you feel good in yourself.

Remember that health encompasses not just your body, but your mind and soul as well. Becoming mentally healthy or more resilient is a path to a better daily life.

Shift Your Mindset

Then next thing is making sure that you need to do is take a look at your mindset. Are you feeling positive? Do you constantly beat yourself up? If so, then you need to work on your own mental health and the outlook that you have on life. Because this can help you to improve everything else.

Remember, our thoughts create our reality. And better thoughts equal a better life.

Growing In Your Career

Another thing that you may want to think about here is your career. Maybe you want to learn something new or finally get your accounting degree MBA next year? Or you want to work for a promotion or moving into a new phase? It could be that you even want to start your own thing and see where that takes you.

Though I am all about having a fulfilling personal life, I know that your work life can impact if your daily life feels better or worse.

Preparing For The Future

The next thing that you could aim for here is to think about preparing for your future. Maybe you want to think about investing for retirement. It could be that you want to ensure that you are prepared to retire and you can live the life that you want, it could mean that you want to cover off to that. And it’s never too early to make sure that you are protected in the future.

When you’re prepared for a better or more secure future, you open yourself up to making better choices for both the short and long term.

Have a Better Life by Being Kinder To Yourself

Finally, one of the best things that you can decide to do for yourself next year, is to be a lot kinder to yourself. And this can work in a range of ways. You may find that you have to be more realistic with your goals or more specific. That you have to be tougher on yourself or less so. Or that you even need to change your lifestyle or let go of things that have held you back. A brand-new year is the best time for change after all, so it could be time.
